Anemone Analogy -S.Y

The Tale of the Anemone Monster

Among the wonderful fish and colorful corals of the coral reefs, there lives a feared monster, living at the bottom of the sea floor. Mothers and fathers alike warn their children to never go near it, for there is no escaping the vicious poisonous arms of the Anemone monster. A curious goby, and an intelligent one, was always out swimming into the wonders of the coral reefs. He felt no fear exploring every inch of the coral reefs for he believed the tales of the Anemone Monster were fictional nonsense. But on one particular day, his curiosity and arrogance would get the best of him. Sifting through the sand of the sea floor, the goby tried to search for mysis and brine shrimp but failed to no avail. He kept searching the floor, tirelessly looking for a snack until he ended up face to face with the feared monster. At first, the little goby was not alarmed but instead, interested with what he had encountered. What appeared before him was a slow-moving creature, seemingly docile, gently swaying in the water. Atop of the mysterious creature, were what the goby thought to be arms, many of them, calmly dancing with every calculated move. The goby was hesitant to approach the creature, but curiosity itched at him to take a closer look. He makes it way up to the creature, circling it. Intrigued by it even more, he dives deeper into the creature. This proved to be his fatal mistake as the creature latches onto him and the goby squirms and struggles to escape the grasp of the creature. The Anemone unleashes it weapons, deadly toxins into the poor goby. With the speed of a bullet, these toxins paralyze him. In minutes, the goby disappears and is devoured by the Anemone. This goes to show that even a slight mistake will result in a not so happy ending with the Anemone Monster.
